I can't believe it's the last day of May. Where did this month/year go? Seriously. In preparation for summer, I am cultivating a new favorite outfit. And, my girl Reese is totally in agreement...and I hope easing off the booze for a while.

What's Up Thursday

Since it was released this past weekend, I've been watching the new season of Arrested Development on Netflix. I was a huge fan of the original (although not until I watched it on DVD) and I think the new season is just as hilarious. It hasn't gotten the best reviews, in fact, The Huffington Post is reporting that Netflix's stock dipped after its debut, but don't let that deter you. It's kind of amazing. If you've never watched, it's definitely worth it, but start at the beginning.

My sweet friend Alice was in town this week. I hadn't seen her in months so to celebrate I monogrammed her some napkins. I found these at Target and just went and matched the thread colors. 

Because I definitely need another pair of flat sandals....aren't these Lauren by Ralph Lauren ones perfect? They are sold out of most normal human feet sizes, but if you have the foot size of a large child, you are in luck.

Happy Tuesday! Cheers to a short week!

This weekend a lifelong dream of mine was realized when I finally did what I have been threatening to do for 10 years...I bought a monogram machine!!!! Get ready for some (more) monograms up in here.

Thank you to our sweet friends Jacquelyn and Brian for these amazing chairs. We had them painted this weekend and I think they're now ready for some porch sitting!

My sister and I went to Brewed. It just might be the cutest place to get coffee (or a brew... or food, we had some amazing scones) ever. All of the tables are states. Texas gets a couch....because that's how we roll.

We went to a wedding, that was lots of fun and very pink!

And, across the pond this weekend in Cannes...

I'm totally girl crushing on Nicole Kidman's amazing outfit and Cinnabon-inspired hair. She looks amazing. I wish I were talented enough to make my hair look like that!

What's Up Thursday

While trolling for some new summer sandals on Piperlime, I ran across these beauties from Loeffler Randall. My absolute favorite riding boots are from that brand, but I've never seen any of their other shoes. These are beyond cute and would spice up white jeans or a summer sundress.

I absolutely love this feature from Rue Daily on monogram aficionado Melanie Duncan's home. The pairing of teal and Hermes orange is kind of amazing, and I love repurposing a pretty box for earring storage.

I too have been an earring organizing mood. I bought these earring trees on Amazon and it has made finding my earrings infinitely easier!

My sister turned me on to these Yummy Earth Organic Hot Chili Pops. They are so delish--sweet and spicy--and actually not so unhealthy. They are just the perfect little treat.

This week completely flew by for me. Hooray weekend! I'm looking forward to a relaxing 48 hours!

I haven't heard a lot in the news about Keira Knightly's wedding, but how divine does she look in this photo? What an absolutely timeless wedding dress, she looks like Audrey Hepburn to me.

This week I finished some pillows I made with the leftover fabric from a chair I recovered. Both are now in our guest bedroom and it's actually starting to look like it's suitable for guests. My sister gave me her old sewing machine and it has been so fun learning how to use it. Next up I want an embroidery machine!

And speaking of embroidery, it would seem that Ralph Lauren and I have the exact same monogram. Which kind of defeats the purpose of monogramming stuff in a block format for me any more. I think the purpose of a monogram is to make something more personal, and if you can just buy it off the rack like that, what is the point? Bummer. 

My sweet friend Billy bought me this Margot Tennenbaum dress I can't wait too wear, It is so stinkin cute. Now I just need a bob and some black eyeliner...and some secrets.

Best Dressed: Met Ball

I wasn't super impressed with most of what I saw in photos from the Met Ball and I attribute that to the theme of the fashion institute's exhibit this summer: "PUNK: Chaos to Couture." Chaos is precisely the word that comes to mind when I look at what most people wore. There were a few lovely exceptions though...

Weekend Snaps

Let's just call this weekend Showerpalooza. It was so fun to celebrate two wonderful future happenings with friends. First a wedding shower for my friend Jacquelyn. She's the one in the fabulous bright pink dress and dangly turquoise earrings...

Later on Saturday we celebrated a baby on the way for our friends Carly and Stephen...

How cute is this game? You decide what you think the baby's gender is by either selecting a mustache (boy) or flower pin (girl).

Oh, and this happened. We dressed up baby (dog) Parker in a baby human onesie. 

Even people with way too much time on their hands royal impersonators had a shower--albeit faux--for the arrival of a presumably faux royal child.
