How sick is this bag? A little out of my price range, but it's awesome.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

What's Up Thursday

Okay, bear with me, I am gingerly stepping back into the real world and not just eating and lounging around all day. These are the last vacation photos, I swear.

Fall is my absolute favorite season for many reasons, but first and foremost would be for the fashion. We're seeing cooler climes in Texas this week. I wore black pants yesterday in celebration. And I bought a lot of fashion magazines, too. I'm totally into Bazaar again. Their redesign is awesome.

The first 48 hours into our trip I promptly made a visit to Cos Bar and bought the following serious miracle workers.

This is without a doubt the best mineral makeup I have used. My favorite formerly was Jane Iredale, which is great, but this one is just fantastic. The salesperson at Cos Bar told me it didn't have talc in it, which apparently is something bad I should know about, so there you go. It's a win.

If you're middle name is "Perfect" then you better be pretty cool. And trust me, this is. This brush applies the above mentioned mineral foundation perfectly. You can use it with powder or liquid foundation.

Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer

When I worked for a magazine in Dallas, we often got new beauty samples a lot. Like I didn't buy a lip gloss/stick/liner or eyeshadow/eyeliner/mascara for two years straight a lot. One of the greatest freebies was the Cle de Peau Beaute Enriched Lip Luminizer. It is like putting butter on your lips, but better because it's a pretty color. This concealer is just as good, but in a different way. It literally erases your under eye circles.

I also made my first serious fall purchase, and it's a little crazy.

Current/Elliott The Coated Stiletto Jeans in bronze

Despite being coated denim, they are extremely comfortable and look so great with a black blouse. I can't wait to wear them somewhere soon!

I'm getting excited for Labor Day Weekend and am so obsessed with the super cute  Who What Wear article on celeb packing lists. Of course, Tory Burch is the cutest. I mean, look at her holding that starfish. She's amazing. Can I just be her, please?

Vacay Snaps

Hello there! Sorry for the lack of posting on Monday and Tuesday, but we've been in Carmel for a few days celebrating my husband's birthday and taking a family vacation with our parents. It was a blast. Here are a few photos of our time there. I'll post a longer update tomorrow.

some of the most gorgeous succulents ever

cocktails at Spanish Bay...waiting for the bagpiper

Carmel is famously chien friendly, even to those dogs who might be a little "off" apparently

gorgeous (and foggy) view from Tor House

an actual canary in a cage...I need one, right?

J.Crew Shoes

I haven't been super jazzed about any of J.Crew's shoes in the last couple of years. Mainly because they seem to always be too wide for my feet, but I might be willing to buy some shoe pads for the following pretty slippers...

On another note, I'm pretty bummed about the Manolo Blahnik for J.Crew colab falling through. But as  an upside, the Supergas are pretty awesome.

Benji Wednesday

Benji's been hanging out under our side table during the rain storms recently. He's so fast I can't get his Thundershirt on him!

And I just figured out how to use the flippy thing on my iPhone, so here's what Benji sees. You're welcome.

Happy Birthday Hubby!

You are such a blessing in my life. Thank you for letting me have not one, but three rescue dogs and putting up with endless solo photos. I love you!

Crafty McCrafterson

So just in case you thought I wasn't crafting anything of late, here's an update.

We have a huge canvas painting in our den that we won at a silent auction. I took it in to frame, but it's so massive the only custom frames that would fit took up the rest of the wall. So, my friend Denise was over and suggested I paint the sides silver. Totally genius.

First I used painter's tape to protect the actual painting.

The paint I used is just a silver metallic acrylic paint.

Here's the finished product. Kinda snazzy, right?

Next, my very dull desk table lamp. I had some leftover trim from a few wicker elephants I made for a baby shower earlier this month. I bought yards of the trim on clearance at a fabric store months ago for a pillow and I swear it has come in so handy since. And no, I did not make a pillow. What was I thinking?

Anyway, here's the before:

I love craft projects that require a glue gun.

For the top of the lampshade I cut off the little tassels.

And voila! The finished product. I think it's quite fetching.

Weekend Snaps

How was your weekend? Mine was very relaxing. I kicked off the weekend by seeing a newly engaged friend, which was super exciting! Yay for weddings!!!!

Friday and Saturday were super rainy. We left our only black umbrella at a restaurant on Friday night so I bought these snazzy new ones to fill our stand.

Enjoyed some last days of summer pool time...

We also went to the antique mall looking for a great armoire, but all we found was this funny sign...

And speaking of puppies how cute are these little paws...
