Weekend Snaps

Happy Monday! A few snaps from our weekend....

I wore my new favorite earrings out and about.

In preparation for swimsuit season, this was my dinner on Saturday.

 We went to the Fort Worth Opera festival this weekend, and met this fancy lady. She makes me think someone needs to have an amazing Marie Antoinette party soon.

We enjoyed some rainbow cake at our niece's birthday party, isn't it the cutest?

Not everyone's weekend was great though...

If you read the tabloids--and really who doesn't?--Reese Witherspoon was arrested and briefly jailed over the weekend when she was combative toward a a police officer who was arresting her husband for  DUI. Apparently she asked the officer if he knew who she was. Cringe. This is sad news in general and for me personally as my love of RW has been well-chronicled here. Let's hope they've learned a lesson from this and call a driver the next time they decide to get sloppy. I mean if you are Reese Witherspoon shouldn't you be doing that already?

Benji Wednesday

Well, the results are in...

and to this I say....wha?

I am sure this test is very complicated and scientific and since my DNA knowledge is limited to one high school biology class, I'll defer to the experts. Still, the skeptic in me wonders because...

a) most Chihuahuas are pretty small and Benji is tipping the scales these days at 16 lbs.

b) His hair has some serious texture for a Chihuahua

c) His ears flop over and do not stand up straight

Could this really be accurate? Do I have a purebred Chihuahua? I guess anything is possible!

Weekend Snaps

Happy Monday!

This weekend I helped my sister with a photography project. It's surprisingly hard to be a photographer's assistant. I have a newfound respect for people who do that regularly.

I broke out my favorite new flip flops...I am a firm believer in the fact that skulls make everything cooler. Even a baby blue pedi. Note that I am keeping this photo small because, I mean, my gosh how big are my toes even in the small pic? Yikes.

We made a low country boil that was delish. 

We went to the Mad Scientist Ball and I tried to jazz up a lab coat. Which is kind of a tall order. 

I went for some shiny objects.

Weekend Snaps

 Just got back from a quick weekend trip for our friend's birthday. It was a lot of fun, but now I feel like I'm still playing catch up!

I'm not a music buff, so I had never heard of this band we saw over the weekend. They are called Deer Tick and they are pretty awesome on their own, but guess who came in to sing backup?

Vanessa Carlton! 

Yes, that Vanessa Carlton, she of the mobile piano music video and fabulous fish braid. She is still pretty awesome (check out that coat in the photo above).

Striped

Despite the chilly temps in Texas this week, I am hopeful that warm weather is just a few weeks away. Here's hoping, because I will be wearing a lot of this striped dress. It's so comfortable and I kind of feel it goes with everything. Happy Friday!!!

What's Up Thursday

I'm totally loving the spring Shopbop sale. Just bought this little lovely I've been eyeing for a while.

I love the idea of organic and non-toxic products, but stuff has to work. You know? EmerginC's at-home peel works like a dream and it didn't aggravate my sensitive skin. They also use sustainable packaging.

My mom brought me some yellow roses for Easter and they look so great right by our front door. They also make the entry smell amazing.

Mad Men is back! The new season starts on Sunday and that means more of this B...er, Betty. I love you, January Jones. She always looks so cool. I wonder who makes her bag, it's pretty awesome.

How much do you love my new notepad from byrd & bleecker? It makes me happy every time I see it.

Benji Wednesday: Who's Your Daddy?

I finally did it. After seven years of pet ownership, I bought a DNA test for Benji. It was so easy I don't know I put it off for so long!

 I bought it on Amazon, and after making sure Benji did not have anything to eat for at least two hours, I swabbed his cheek with the swabby things provided. He didn't love the swabbing, I'll be honest. And, if you have long hair, pull it back. Mine touched the swab because Benji was thrashing around so much. Hopefully it won't interfere with the results! I guess I'll know if it says he's part human.

After that, you let them dry for five minutes before putting them in their plastic sleeves and into a mailer. 

Now, we just wait three weeks or so.

Here are the guesses I have heard from vets as to Benji's lineage...

Chihuahua + Pomeranian

Chihuahua + Papillion 

Chihuahua + Dachshund + Cocker Spaniel

 Either way, he's pretty much the cutest.

I Love Lamp

I finally got around to finding shades for these beautiful lamps I found at On Consignment a few months back. 

Is it me, or do they totally look like something Kelly Wearstler would love?

Weekend Snaps

Happy April! I can't believe it's here already. This weekend we went to a friend's birthday party. My sister and I went twinsie style...

I went to Dallas and collected this haul of items you just can't get in Fort Worth. Namely green juice, hair product, the best white T-shirt from Number One and my freshly repaired soles.
