Weekend Snaps

This weekend flashed by for me, how was yours? I just got back from a fun trip to Portland with my mom so some of my Weekend Snaps are from that trip. I'll post more about our Portland trip tomorrow! For now...

This is the Anthropologie store in downtown Portland. The coral window display is made from packing materials and other repurposed goods (paper plates, straws, plastic netting, candle wax). What an amazing eco-friendly display!

Above is a beautiful Mark Rothko piece at the Portland Art Museum. Mr. Rothko's first museum exhibition was at that museum in the 1930s. The exhibit was amazing, a real treat for Rothko enthusiasts as many pieces are from the personal collections of his two children.

My craft project, chevron flower arrangements. Still a work in progress, but getting there! I kind of want to paint everything chevron now.

In other news...

J. Simp baby watch is still happening. I really wish I could stop worrying about this, but I can't. When is this baby coming, people? The latest from People (.com) is that the bun remains in the oven. So I'll try to distract myself and stop being a complete weirdo.

And, how exciting is it that Giuliana and Bill are having a baby? I loved her sweet baby party photos, also on People. I just love her and their cute show on The Style Network. All kinds of cute.

Speaking of cute, how precious is Kate Middleton in Matthew Williamson? I'm a total sucker for a beaded neckline and sleeves, and this color on her is magical. Can you believe she and Wils have been married one year? It seems like yesterday I woke up at four to make scones for the occasion.

I'm still on the hunt for a swimsuit. Just ordered the below suit, we'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll lose ten pounds and gain the knowledge of how to make a side bun like so...

And, can this please be my kitchen? I saw it on Peppermint Bliss, and like Jessica Simpson's spawn, I cannot get it off my mind. So beautiful, light and airy!

That's all for now. Wishing you a wonderful week!

Things I Bought at Target and Liked

Someone call Archie Grand, I need a notebook made asap!

I think it's a known fact now that Target is awesome, but sometimes I'm surprised at just how right they constantly get it. Somehow even though I go in with a tiny basket looking only for a toothbrush and a carton of milk I end up with nonessentials like these...

Clothing
I bought this color blocked maxi dress a few weeks back and liked it so much I hurried back to get it in the other color...

I seriously wear it at least once a week, so the alternate color helps...a little.

Food
I've always preferred plain coconut water to the flavored kinds until I found this...

Lychee-flavored coconut water is just about the best. It's not too sweet and super refreshing, perfect for those hot summer months we're sure to have soon.

Accessories
Prior to my Lenten shopping hiatus I put this necklace in my "hearts" on Shopbop (do you use that feature? It's so awesome), then I briefly forgot about it and it sold out. Tears were shed.

Until I found this super similar one at Target (after Lent, of course) for less than 10 percent of the price of the Kenneth Jay Lane necklace. Oh, yes and that tank top is from Target.

And, don't count out Target shoes. I am completely obsessed with these cobalt blue sandals...

Beauty
In addition to the oodles of Yes to Carrots products Target carries, they also stock a lot of EOS. I personally love the EOS shave cream. I had only used the Pomegranate scent, but I'm totally loving the Vanilla now. It's like a creamy lotion only better because it doesn't get goopy in water.

And, even though I bought organic strawberries and Go Lean cereal, Target knows what I really want, which is why I got these coupons for macaroni and cheese. Touche, Target, touche.

Spring Wedding Shower

Yesterday I talked about a wedding shower we hosted for my good friend Allison. She's getting married this June and we had so much fun celebrating her! Her wedding colors are pale blue and coral, so we tried to use a lot of those in the shower. I love that color combo, don't you? Fun was had, gifts were opened and tons of sugary sweets were consumed.

Here are some of the snapshots I took...

Daisies in vases from Fish's Eddy

Wedding monogram cookies made by my very talented friend Sarah

Gorgeous roses that I decided to color block

Repurposed pouf from Alice's shower paired with a girlie wreath I found

The drink station

The bride loves Diet Coke, so we made sure to have plenty on hand

Southern bridal shower staple, pimento cheese finger sandwiches

Wooden spoons as parting gifts

Weekend Snaps

How was your weekend? I had a great, but super busy one that included a bridal shower, a party that crept into the wee hours, time spent at Main Street Arts Festival, a crafts project (more on that one later) and a long dinner with friends.

The shower was such a blast, and I am obsessed with the hostess gifts of monogrammed toiletry bags. I'll post photos of the shower later in the week.

We went to a Mad Scientist-inspired party on Saturday. Below is the dessert, a key lime concoction served in a beaker and accompanied by a delicious sugar cookie.

Everyone wore lab coats, which made accessories infinitely important. I wore big earrings and a pair of heels that I bought last year, but had never worn out of the house. They are so beautiful, but so uncomfortable.

So yesterday, this situation happened all day...

Yes, they are Birkenstocks. Super attractive. I am officially old.

And, my newest obsession are these dark chocolate covered walnuts from Tom Thumb. I bought this container on Friday and they are all but gone. Delightful, and I feel like they are healthier than most candy. I mean, dark chocolate has antioxidants, right?

Wishing you a wonderful week!

What's Up

Wow, is it really Wednesday? Somehow I've found myself in the midst of a very busy week. I don't know how this happened, but the blog was the very last thing on my to do list, so apologies.

Here's what's new with me...

I found a new chandelier for our breakfast room area. Kind of obsessed with it, it's a pineapple, a traditional symbol of welcome, so that's fun. Also, I painted our breakfast room table, wait for it...blue. Shocking, I know. So here's the before, which you may remember because of the awesome Benji painting.

Here's the after:

Also, with a Benji cameo. He's like Hitchcock, y'all. His painting has been relocated to the guest room for now, though. I mean it would be a little too girlie with the blue table and all.

And speaking of blue, I am totally obsessed with Oscar de la Renta's 2013 spring bridal line. I love every dress. Especially the dresses that incorporate blue (and the red with black mantilla veil is kind of awesome too!)...

How amazing are these flower girl dresses? They are just so precious, the blue printed one would be awesome with blue bridesmaids dresses. I also love the idea of doing something different with flower girl flowers. The hair wreaths are amazing.

In the summer I am always on the lookout for great wedge sandals and these lovelies were on Shopbop today. Kind of love them with white or colored jeans and a nude flowy blouse. They kind of make me want to play croquet, or at least learn how.

And, am I the only person worried about this, but has Jessica Simpson had her baby yet? I feel like she's been pregnant for two years. She makes a very cute preggo bridesmaid below...

I have been checking Popsugar, People and her Twitter like a crazy person, but nothing yet. I did find this little article which details how singer Jewel rescued a hummingbird, which I found delightful and unsurprising. Also loved this slideshow of amazing celebrity wedding rings.

Anyway, that's all I know. Hope you are having a wonderful week!
