One of my dear friends is from Shelbyville, Kentucky and as such has a certain propensity for all things Derby-related. I remember living with her in college and being extremely embarrassed at my lack of Derby knowledge. I soon learned the value of a homemade mint julep. She also has a fabulous blog, The Consummate Hostess, on which she details how to throw pretty much any party under the sun. This week's focus? Well, obviously, the Derby.

Before you go and embarrass yourself by serving the wrong kind of finger sandwiches at your respective Derby bashes this weekend, make a stop at TCH and get the skinny on all things Southern.

My friend J found this darling pup on a Web site. I think he bears an uncanny resemblance to another dog I know...Benji!!!! (Below)

The best part? The far above pup, Hubble, is available for adoption.

He is one of the available dogs at Dog and Kitty City, a no-kill shelter located in Dallas. They have tons of pets ready for a second shot at life.

Gaga Faux Pas

I'm a huge fan (well, a medium-sized fan at least) of Lady Gaga's style. Sure, she's crazy and over the top, but she's got a funky and fun way of expressing herself through her outfits/accessories/random hair pieces. But this? Writing on your Birkin?! This is offensive to me. If I could actually could afford a Birkin, I would keep it at least 30 yards away from writing implements of any kind. Gaga, take note. And not on your purse.
