Wedding Season

One of my dear friends is getting married this week, so in honor of her I am devoting today's post to weddings! Love you, J!

I adore weddings and really events in general. And I love getting dressed up, but with so many weddings in the summer it's easy to have a sinking feeling while trying to get dressed for yet another wedding (sometimes an entire wedding weekend!) and look different than you did at the last 10. Here are some things to look for when buying wedding wares.

The Dress

I'm a huge fan of white, cream and ivory dresses, which are incidentally a huge "no no" at a wedding--especially at the wedding of someone who you might call a peer or acquantaince and especially if you are under 50. The silhouette of this Lela Rose dress is so amazing, here is a dress that is similar, but in a different color...

This Shoshanna dress fits the bill. Both dresses are available at Shopbop.

I also love these dress options from Saks...

Chloe & Reese...I kind of think this one would look even more amazing with a fabulous belt.

Diane von Furstenberg

Mark & James

And, sigh, Oscar de la Renta. My personal fave...

And these, which I couldn't hijack from Neiman Marcus and their amazing Cusp.

I would also reccomend investing in a couple of fabulous cardis or wraps to change the look of the dresses you already have.

The Clutch

Now that you have the dress, accessories are crucial. Lauren Merkin makes classic and inexpensive clutches. I am also a huge fan of Kotur.

Lauren Merkin's classic bags. Available at Neiman Marcus.

And offerings from Kotur available at Kotur's Web site.

The Shoes

Then, you need some amazing shoes that you will feel great in and that go with anything. I personally always choose gold over silver. How about these stunners?

Available at Barneys. If these don't make you feel fabulous nothing will.

I also like Jimmy Choo...

A fancy nude sandal always looks great as well...

To top it off I love jewelry. I love at least one big, fun piece of jewelry and am currently obsessed with these Kenneth Jay Lane earrings...

They go with anything!!! And they are clip-on not post so you don't have to worry about them hurting your ears to terribly.

So that is my primer on wedding attire. Now you can focus on wishing the couple a life of wedded bliss and not worry about what you are wearing!

xoxo
