Crafty McCrafterson

So just in case you thought I wasn't crafting anything of late, here's an update.

We have a huge canvas painting in our den that we won at a silent auction. I took it in to frame, but it's so massive the only custom frames that would fit took up the rest of the wall. So, my friend Denise was over and suggested I paint the sides silver. Totally genius.

First I used painter's tape to protect the actual painting.

The paint I used is just a silver metallic acrylic paint.

Here's the finished product. Kinda snazzy, right?

Next, my very dull desk table lamp. I had some leftover trim from a few wicker elephants I made for a baby shower earlier this month. I bought yards of the trim on clearance at a fabric store months ago for a pillow and I swear it has come in so handy since. And no, I did not make a pillow. What was I thinking?

Anyway, here's the before:

I love craft projects that require a glue gun.

For the top of the lampshade I cut off the little tassels.

And voila! The finished product. I think it's quite fetching.
