Reed Krakoff's Kit Leather Purse from Net-A-Porter

This clutch purse just seems super fresh and cool. I would wear it with something pink or orange. We would be so happy together...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Pick: The CBK dress

Before I got married I had an embarrassingly large inspiration book of wedding images. This was obviously pre-Pinterest--a total Godsend for brides-to-be. The first and probably most important pull page was this one.

Chances are you've seen it more than once. It was taken of John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy on their wedding day (September 21, 1996) in Cumberland Island, Georgia. The dress was designed by Narciso Rodriguez, a close friend of CBK's, arguably launching his career into the upper fashion echelons.

Despite CBK's short time in the spotlight, due to her untimely passing, her style remains something of a standard for posh and minimalist style, due in no small part to the fact that she worked at Calvin Klein in the mid-1990s when the minimal look was at perhaps its most fabulous and Kate Moss looked about 12.

I snapped that last photo of Kate Moss and CBK out of my own copy of John F. Kennedy Jr. A Life in Pictures. Isn't it cool?

Even five years after her death, CBK was mentioned in the opening page of Bergdorf Blondes to describe the precise shade of Manhattan blonde (white not yellow) that could only truly be achieved by salon touch-ups every 13 days. But perhaps what I most associate CBK with is the minimal cocktail dress (usually black) that she made look so utterly amazing.

And while no one could do it like she did it, I noticed a few cool twists on the CBK dress recently I had to share.

I would pair them with very minimal strappy gold or silver sandals and a swipe of red lipstick for evening. They're just such a refreshing change of pace from over-the-top embellishments and patterns that are so abundant lately--not that those aren't super fun too! But, as CBK knew well, sometimes the best way to stand out is to scale back.

Friday Pick

Emilio Pucci Appliqued Silk-Charmeuse Dress available at net-a-porter

I am so obsessed with this dress I want to make it my screen saver. No, I want to print out a photo of it and frame it. It's so perfect for really any occasion, and such versatile frocks are hard to find. Like one in a million. Sadly, dear dress, I cannot afford you, even on major sale, but you are divine.

Friday Pick

So I know it's Memorial Day weekend and I should be writing about awesome sunglasses or a Missoni pool towel, but then I saw these....

Christian Louboutin "Just Picks" pumps available at Barneys.

I'm officially obsessed with these shoes. They look like something Cinderella would wear if she married Mick Jagger instead of Prince Charming. They are awesome.

Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Friday Pick

Before we get down to brass tacks, let's all have an "aww" moment.

I mean, how cute is that? Kate (formerly Middleton, now Princess) with her puppy Lupo. Whoever took this photo gets the super creepy award, but I'm glad I got to see it. They are adorbs.

Why the puppy love on a Friday? I'm so glad you asked. I'll let this photo answer that...

I think I've been pretty up front about my adoration for the Duchess of Cambridge, but this tool my obsession to another level. Best.Outfit.Ever. I mean, get serious. A dress with long sleeves and a slit, and by Roland Mouret no less? But the real star here is Kate'e leg. Angelina, take note, this is how you work a slit. No crazy posing, no exposed decollete, you let the leg speak for itself. Well done, Katie.

And as awesome as Mrs. Wils' leg is here, I have to say the real stunner has to be the shoes.

Jimmy Choo Vamp Sandals if I'm not mistaken, and they are amazing.

These lovelies can be yours for a mere $750, and they come in a slew of drool-worthy incarnations, these below being my personal favorites.

Don't they make you want to dance? Wishing you a wonderful weekend, with cause for such footwear.

Friday Pick

When it comes to shopping, I am one of those people who gets completely obsessed with one single item and can't think of anything else...despite said items necessity to my life. For instance, I just found a dress for a wedding we have coming up in a few weeks and yet...

Wouldn't this beautiful Diane von Furstenburg dress be pretty at a wedding worn with chunkier gold shoes?

And...

I love the back on this Riller & Fount dress from Shopbop. So pretty with a top-knot hairstyle and some big gold bangles.

Or wouldn't it be cool to do a colorblocked look with one of these skirts and a lighter colored silk top?

Mason by Michelle Mason Maxi Skirt from Shopbop

Ark & Co. skirt from Piperlime

What's wrong with me?!?!? Slowly backing away from the computer.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
